Established to be a regional transportation hub for northeast China, the Daqing Railway Station is a symbol for the city of Daqing, representing the rich history and culture, which stems from the oil industry – the economic backbone of the region. This station will house the latest information technology systems to facilitate the increasingly complex transportation networks. The station is fronted by a multifunction public plaza that connects to the other modes of transportation linking the station. The architecture is inspired, and symbolizes the strength of Wang Jinxi, a mid-twentieth century pioneer who led oil exploration in the region.
